Donald Trump’s campaign is increasing armed security at its sites and advising staff in Washington and West Palm Beach to avoid the office on Sunday following an assassination attempt on the former president at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. This directive was outlined in an internal memo, reported by Politico.
The memo also instructed campaign staff not to publicly comment on the incident, emphasizing the political polarization in the current election cycle. Trump’s campaign reassured that he is in “great spirits” despite sustaining a minor injury to his ear.
Separately, ABC News reported that security measures for the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, which begins Monday, will be reassessed in light of the shooting incident.
