The White House updated its official website Thursday to include a defense of President Donald Trump’s $300 million ballroom project—while also adding a new timeline referencing scandals involving former presidents.

The new “About the White House” page outlines major structural changes over time, including the additions of the West Wing, Oval Office, Rose Garden, and East Wing. But it also highlights controversial moments from prior administrations. The timeline cites Bill Clinton’s 1998 impeachment for lying under oath about his affair with intern Monica Lewinsky, Barack Obama’s 2012 meeting with then–Egyptian President and Muslim Brotherhood member Mohamed Morsi, and the 2023 discovery of cocaine in the West Wing under President Biden.

The entry also mentions Biden’s hosting of a Pride Month celebration and his proclamation aligning Transgender Day of Visibility with Easter Sunday in 2024.

The website addition comes as demolition of the East Wing continues to make way for Trump’s planned ballroom, which officials say will be completed before his term ends in January 2029. Critics have accused the administration of politicizing White House history for partisan purposes.
