President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Hamas on Wednesday, demanding the immediate release of all remaining hostages and the return of deceased captives.
“Shalom Hamas” means Hello and Goodbye – You can choose,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Release all of the hostages now, not later, or it is OVER for you.” He also announced that the U.S. is sending Israel resources to “finish the job.”
Trump’s statement followed White House confirmation that his administration is engaged in direct negotiations with Hamas. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended the move, stating, “The president’s envoy has the authority to talk to anyone in the best interest of the American people.”
The talks are reportedly led by Trump’s special envoy Adam Boehler, focusing on securing U.S. hostages’ release and a broader ceasefire deal. Former Ambassador Daniel Shapiro warned that engaging Hamas poses risks, but acknowledged it may be necessary to save American lives.
Meanwhile, Trump criticized Biden’s previous negotiation efforts but pledged to bring hostages home. The situation remains volatile, with a fragile truce between Israel and Hamas showing signs of collapse.
