President-elect Donald Trump recommended the Republican Party help pay off Democratic debt after the 2024 election, suggesting it could foster national unity. Trump noted Democrats raised record funds but are now “being squeezed by vendors,” proposing the GOP step in with its leftover funds largely from “earned media.”

Despite amassing over $1 billion, Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign reportedly faces $20 million in debt, per Politico, with official numbers expected in 30 days per FEC rules. Harris’s campaign spent over $880 million, significantly more than Trump’s $354 million, with high expenses in digital advertising, polling, travel, and event production, including celebrity-filled rallies. Payroll also differed substantially, with Harris’s team spending $56.6 million compared to Trump’s $9 million.
