Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) reported that police arrested a man on Friday who allegedly planned to assassinate him. The suspect, a convicted felon, was apprehended near Moskowitz’s Florida home with a rifle, suppressor, body armor, and a manifesto containing antisemitic rhetoric. Moskowitz was the only person listed as a target.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is leading the investigation. Margate Police confirmed John Lapinski, 41, was arrested on firearms charges. Moskowitz expressed concerns about the security of congressional members, citing a high number of threats reported last year.
