President Donald Trump signed an executive order Tuesday aimed at expanding access to in vitro fertilization (IVF), fulfilling a campaign promise to support families struggling with fertility challenges. The order directs policy recommendations to make IVF more affordable and reduce out-of-pocket costs.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the move on social media, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to protecting IVF access. While the order does not directly cover the cost of IVF, it marks the first step in addressing financial barriers to fertility treatments.
Trump’s decision comes amid political debates over reproductive rights. Democrats have sought to portray him as hostile to women’s healthcare following the overturning of Roe v. Wade, while Trump and Vice President JD Vance have positioned the GOP as the “pro-family” party.
Trump also signed two additional executive actions: one increasing transparency requirements for federal agencies and another establishing new oversight functions within the Office of Management and Budget.
