President Donald Trump amplified a baseless conspiracy theory on his Truth Social platform, claiming that President Joe Biden was “executed in 2020” and replaced by “clones, doubles & robotic engineered soulless mindless entities.” The post, originally shared by a fringe user, echoes long-debunked narratives from the QAnon movement and other far-right circles.
The conspiracy theory alleging that Biden is a clone or body double has been circulating online for years. Fact-checking organizations, including PolitiFact and AFP Fact Check, have repeatedly debunked these claims, confirming that President Biden is alive and has been actively fulfilling his presidential duties. Despite this, proponents of the theory point to supposed changes in Biden’s appearance, such as changes in eye color or earlobe shape, as “evidence” of a replacement—assertions that lack a scientific basis and have been thoroughly discredited.

Trump’s decision to share this conspiracy theory coincides with President Biden’s recent public disclosure of his prostate cancer diagnosis. In a statement, Biden expressed optimism about his treatment and gratitude for the support he has received.
This incident is not isolated; Trump has a history of endorsing conspiracy theories, including those related to QAnon, the “deep state,” and false claims about election fraud. His amplification of these narratives has been linked to increased political polarization and the spread of misinformation. Experts warn that such actions from a sitting president can have dangerous implications, potentially inciting unrest and eroding democratic norms.
The White House has not issued an official response to Trump’s latest post.
