President-elect Donald Trump has raised over $170 million for his upcoming inauguration, surpassing previous records. A source familiar with the fundraising expects the total to exceed $200 million.

The funds, typically used for inauguration-related events such as the oath of office, parade, and inaugural balls, may also support a future Trump presidential library. Trump’s inaugural committee has not disclosed spending details and declined to comment.

This total doubles President Joe Biden’s $62 million raised in 2021 and surpasses Trump’s 2016 record of $107 million. Major donors, including Amazon and Meta, each pledged $1 million, while OpenAI CEO Sam Altman committed a personal $1 million donation.

Tech companies and other large contributors appear eager to strengthen ties with Trump and the Republican-controlled Congress. The New York Times first reported the fundraising milestone.
