President-elect Donald Trump acknowledged the difficulty of lowering grocery prices after recent increases but expressed confidence they will eventually decline. In an interview with Time magazine, Trump noted that energy improvements and supply chain fixes could help reduce costs, though he described the current supply chain as “still broken.”
During the 2024 campaign, Trump criticized the Biden administration for high food prices, frequently citing rising costs for items like bacon and cereal. He vowed to tackle inflation, promising in an August speech to “rapidly drive prices down” upon taking office.
Trump reiterated his commitment to affordability, telling voters, “Prices will come down. You just watch.”
