Washington, D.C. — President Donald Trump said the United States does not need assistance from NATO allies in its ongoing military campaign against Iran, despite earlier calls for international support.

In remarks Tuesday and posts on Truth Social, Trump argued that recent U.S. and Israeli operations have significantly weakened Iran’s military capabilities, making outside help unnecessary. “We do not need the help of anyone,” he said, adding that NATO countries were making a “very foolish mistake” by declining to participate.

Trump also expressed frustration with alliance members who have opted to remain neutral as the conflict enters its third week. He reiterated long-standing criticisms that NATO operates as a “one-way street,” claiming the U.S. spends heavily to defend allies who fail to reciprocate during times of need.

The president’s comments come after earlier requests for allied support to help secure the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil route. While some Middle Eastern partners have provided backing, NATO countries have largely avoided direct involvement in the conflict.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said he spoke with Trump and described the president as deeply frustrated, warning that limited allied participation could have broader consequences for both Europe and the United States.
