President Donald Trump received both a Covid vaccine booster and a flu shot Friday during a checkup at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, according to a memo from his physician, Dr. Sean P. Barbarella. The White House described the visit as a scheduled follow-up and part of Trump’s “ongoing health maintenance plan.”
Barbarella reported Trump, 79, “remains in exceptional health” with lab results showing a cardiac age nearly 14 years younger than his own. Trump was also treated for chronic venous insufficiency and has lost 20 pounds since 2020.
The booster comes despite opposition from figures such as Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who restructured the CDC’s vaccine advisory panel and limited Covid vaccine recommendations to older adults or those with medical conditions. Some MAGA supporters have derided Covid shots as “death jabs,” a claim rejected by public health experts.
Trump received the vaccines ahead of a Middle East trip following peace negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
