Former President Trump commended CNN’s presidential debate moderators, Dana Bash and Jake Tapper, for their fair treatment during Thursday night’s debate. Speaking at a rally in Virginia, Trump acknowledged years of perceived bias from CNN but praised the professional conduct of Bash and Tapper.
Despite some liberal criticism over the lack of real-time fact-checking, Trump expressed his satisfaction, stating, “They treated me very fairly last night. Very professional, both of them.”
Trump criticized President Biden’s debate performance, which sparked concern among Democrats and calls for Biden to step aside.
Republicans, however, praised CNN’s handling of the debate. Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson called it “a top-notch debate that was fair, informative, and controlled,” appreciating the format that included muting candidates’ microphones when not speaking.
Donald Trump Jr. and tech billionaire Elon Musk also praised CNN’s moderation, with Musk highlighting the reasonable and non-partisan questions.
