President-elect Donald Trump will hold a “victory rally” at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 19, the day before his second-term inauguration, according to his inauguration committee. CBS News was the first to report the announcement.
Trump and other yet-to-be-named speakers are scheduled to address attendees. The following day, Jan. 20, Trump will be sworn in at the Capitol, with several events planned to celebrate the start of his new term.
This will be Trump’s first rally in Washington since his speech on the Ellipse on Jan. 6, 2021, which preceded the Capitol attack by supporters seeking to overturn the 2020 election results. Earlier this week, Trump met with D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, who described the meeting as productive, focusing on shared priorities for his next term.
