Former President Donald Trump has signed an executive order directing the declassification of federal records related to the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr.
Trump stated, “Everything will be revealed,” as he instructed officials to create a declassification plan. The director of national intelligence and the attorney general have 15 days to address JFK records and 45 days for the RFK and MLK files. It is unclear when the documents will be made public.
During his first term, Trump ordered a significant release of JFK files, though some remained redacted due to intelligence concerns. After signing the new order, Trump gave the pen to RFK Jr., his nominee for health and human services secretary, who has long supported releasing the documents.
