In an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo, former President Donald Trump suggested the military could be called upon to handle “radical-left lunatics” on Election Day if necessary. Trump expressed concern about chaos during voting but dismissed threats from his supporters, instead pointing to internal enemies. His remarks invoke the Insurrection Act, a law that allows for military deployment during domestic unrest, though its use would be unprecedented in this context.
The Harris campaign quickly condemned Trump’s comments. Spokesperson Ian Sams said Trump’s statements, combined with his past calls to “terminate” the Constitution and promises of authoritarian control, should be alarming to Americans.
Trump reiterated his view that domestic threats are more dangerous than foreign adversaries, specifically targeting Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff during the interview.
