President Trump’s job approval stands at 42% with 54% disapproval, a net -12 rating, according to the latest Economist/YouGov poll. While slightly better than recent weeks, support among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents has fallen from 92% in January to 83% this week, a net drop of nine points. Approval among non-leaning voters has edged up to 33%, its highest in two months.
Trump’s weakest ratings come on honesty and trustworthiness, now at 31%, the lowest since the start of his second term. On the Epstein investigation, his net approval is -39, with most Americans believing he knew at least some details about Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes before they became public.
On the economy, views remain negative, with 48% expecting higher inflation in six months — the highest since April — and skepticism over his firing of the Bureau of Labor Statistics commissioner, viewed as unjustified by twice as many Americans as justified.
While Trump remains dominant among Republicans, these shifts highlight areas — including trust, handling of sensitive investigations, and economic perceptions — where his standing has weakened.
