New York, NY — Newly resurfaced on-air comments and recent congressional disclosures are drawing attention to Mark Epstein’s claim that Donald Trump contacted Jeffrey Epstein shortly after winning the 2016 presidential election. In an interview with CNN’s “Erin Burnett OutFront,” Mark Epstein said his brother told him that Trump called on election night with a surprised “Can you believe this?” reaction, suggesting the two maintained communication far more recently than Trump later acknowledged.

During the 2019 fallout over Jeffrey Epstein’s arrest, Trump publicly stated he had not spoken to Epstein in “probably 15 years.” Mark Epstein’s account directly contradicts that timeline, adding that the two men had previously fallen out when Jeffrey described Trump as a “crook.” Trump has instead said he distanced himself from Epstein due to inappropriate behavior at Mar-a-Lago.

The renewed focus comes as House Republicans compelled the release of approximately 100,000 pages of Justice Department records related to Epstein, including interviews, investigative files, and immunity agreements. Trump initially expressed opposition to the release but reversed course once bipartisan support became clear, ultimately signing the legislation that mandates the disclosure.

The Hill reports that Congress secured the required 218 signatures to force the vote, pressuring the Department of Justice to produce documents within 30 days. The Independent separately highlighted newly surfaced emails in the congressional cache alleging Trump “knew about the girls” and spent significant time at Epstein properties, though the White House has not commented.
