Washington, DC — President Donald Trump launched America.gov on Tuesday, an artificial intelligence-powered portal intended to give Americans a single place to find federal information and eventually complete government transactions.
The site allows users to ask questions in conversational language and receive answers drawn from official government sources. Each response is designed to direct users back to the underlying federal information rather than forcing them to search through thousands of agency pages and forms.
Trump described the project as a way to make government simpler and more responsive, saying America.gov would serve as a single “front door” for interacting with federal agencies. Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia, who leads the National Design Studio and serves as U.S. chief design officer, helped oversee its development.
The administration says conversations are not permanently stored and personal information is not collected through basic searches. Beginning in 2027, the government plans to expand the platform so users can complete applications and renewals, including passport and Medicare-related services.
Trump also signed an executive order directing federal agencies to integrate eligible public-facing services with America.gov and Login.gov. Certain services, including IRS tax filing and Defense Department systems, are excluded from the order.
