Former President Donald Trump is facing accusations of a federal crime after claims emerged that he promised Robert F. Kennedy Jr. a position in his administration if reelected. Kennedy Jr. endorsed Trump after dropping out of the presidential race and joined him at a Glendale, Arizona rally. During the rally, Kennedy Jr. discussed shared goals with Trump, including “having safe food” and ending the Russia-Ukraine war.
Reports suggest Kennedy Jr. met with Trump and sought a meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris regarding his political future. The Washington Post reported that Kennedy Jr. spoke with Trump about endorsing him in exchange for a potential role in his administration.
Critics on social media, including lawyer Tristan Snell, accused Trump of illegally offering a job for an endorsement, a violation of federal law. Trump denied any wrongdoing, and neither he nor Kennedy Jr. has confirmed the alleged deal.
Trump told CNN he “probably would” consider appointing Kennedy Jr. if he wins the election. Both campaigns have yet to comment on these allegations.
