President Donald Trump on Wednesday rejected calls to release unredacted Jeffrey Epstein files, describing renewed demands from lawmakers and victims as a “Democrat hoax.” His remarks came as survivors of Epstein’s abuse joined a bipartisan press conference on Capitol Hill calling for transparency.
“This is a Democrat hoax that never ends,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “It reminds me a little of the Kennedy situation. We gave them everything over and over again… and nobody’s ever satisfied.”
The press conference, led by Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY), aimed to gather support for a discharge petition that would compel the administration to release all federal files related to Epstein.
While House Speaker Mike Johnson prefers continued committee review to avoid a floor vote, the Oversight Committee released over 30,000 pages of redacted documents overnight. Trump insisted the disclosure was substantial and criticized Democrats for focusing on “something that’s totally irrelevant” to his record.
The issue has created friction within Republican ranks, many of whom previously promoted Epstein-related conspiracies during Trump’s reelection campaign.
