President Donald Trump told NBC’s Meet the Press that he plans to hold a “big, beautiful” military parade on June 14 — Flag Day and his birthday — to celebrate U.S. military strength and the Army’s 250th anniversary. He also confirmed plans to remodel the White House, including replacing the Rose Garden’s grass with stone and building a ballroom.
Trump said the $45 million parade cost would be “peanuts” compared to its value and would feature 6,600 troops, 150 vehicles, and 50 aircraft. The funding may come from Army training budgets.
He was inspired by France’s Victory Day events and plans additional celebrations for World War I and II. “Why don’t we have a Victory Day?” he said.
On renovations, Trump cited an incident involving mud during an Indian delegation visit. He said he’ll fund the project himself, noting, “It will be something really beautiful.”
