Former President Trump dismissed calls from allies to refocus on policy, stating he was “entitled to personal attacks” against Vice President Harris. Speaking at a press conference in Bedminster, N.J., Trump expressed anger toward Harris, saying, “I don’t have a lot of respect for her. I don’t have a lot of respect for her intelligence, and I think she’ll be a terrible president.”
Trump brushed off suggestions from former rival Nikki Haley to shift his campaign strategy, insisting he would run his campaign “my way.” Despite polls showing Harris leading in key battleground states, Trump maintained his approach, continuing personal attacks on Harris’s heritage, laugh, and intelligence.
During the press conference, Trump addressed issues such as the economy, inflation, and the Biden administration’s record, but he also veered into unrelated topics like the border and windmills. Some of Trump’s allies, including Peter Navarro and Kellyanne Conway, have urged him to focus more on policy differences with Harris, arguing that this approach would better resonate with voters in crucial states. However, Trump remained confident in his current strategy and praised his campaign team.
