Former President Trump on Friday renewed his call for President Biden to take a cognitive test, offering to join him in doing so. “Joe should immediately take a Cognitive Test, and I will go with him, and take one also,” Trump posted on Truth Social, suggesting they do it “for the good of the Country.”
Biden has faced increasing scrutiny over his age and mental fitness, especially following a poor debate performance last month. Prominent voices, including Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta, have called for Biden to undergo cognitive testing.
Trump has repeatedly urged Biden to take a cognitive test, boasting about his own perfect score on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA). Gupta noted that the MoCA is not the comprehensive test medical experts would prefer for Biden.
Trump also suggested that cognitive and aptitude tests should be mandatory for all presidential candidates. Former GOP candidate Nikki Haley previously proposed a similar requirement based on age. Biden has dismissed the calls for testing, asserting that the demands of the presidency are sufficient.
