Former President Donald Trump underwent a CT scan following a bullet graze to his ear during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The injury, detailed in a memo from Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) and posted by Trump on Truth Social, caused significant bleeding and swelling. The bullet missed entering his head by less than a quarter-inch, striking the top of his right ear. Trump was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital and continues to be monitored, with ongoing evaluations including hearing exams.
Jackson, who examined Trump post-injury and has been treating him daily, explained that the large white ear bandage seen at the Republican National Convention is due to intermittent bleeding. Jackson, Trump’s former White House physician, maintains a close relationship with Trump and used his connection to launch a political career.
During a speech at the RNC, Trump recounted his experience, describing blood covering his hand and face immediately after the attack. The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed by Secret Service snipers. Crooks also killed a rallygoer and injured two others. The FBI is investigating the motive.
Jackson confirmed Trump is recovering well, calling it a miracle he wasn’t killed.
