The Trump administration is considering new travel restrictions that could impact citizens from 43 countries, dividing them into three categories: red, orange, and yellow lists, according to a draft proposal reviewed by The New York Times.

The red list includes 11 countries whose citizens would be completely banned from entering the U.S.:

The orange list contains 10 countries whose citizens would face strict visa restrictions, such as bans on tourist and immigrant visas, but wealthy business travelers may be exempt:

The yellow list includes 22 countries that have 60 days to improve security measures, such as passport verification and information-sharing with U.S. authorities, or risk being moved to a stricter category:

  • Angola
  • Antigua and Barbuda
  • Benin
  • Burkina Faso
  • Cambodia
  • Cameroon
  • Cape Verde
  • Chad
  • Republic of Congo
  • Democratic Republic of Congo
  • Dominica
  • Equatorial Guinea
  • Gambia
  • Liberia
  • Malawi
  • Mali
  • Mauritania
  • St. Kitts and Nevis
  • St. Lucia
  • São Tomé and Príncipe
  • Vanuatu
  • Zimbabwe

This proposal follows Trump’s January 20 executive order, which requires enhanced vetting for foreign travelers. State Department officials are currently reviewing the list, and amendments may be made before final approval.
