The Trump administration has petitioned the Supreme Court to approve the dismissal of Hampton Dellinger, head of the Office of Special Counsel (OSC), marking its first appeal to the high court in the new term. Dellinger, appointed by former President Biden, was removed from his position by President Trump, leading to legal challenges.

Lower courts have temporarily reinstated Dellinger, with the administration arguing that these rulings unduly restrict presidential authority. The OSC is responsible for protecting federal whistleblowers and ensuring compliance with the Hatch Act.
