President Donald Trump announced a new registry requirement for undocumented immigrants, mandating that anyone 14 years or older who remains in the U.S. for more than 30 days must submit fingerprints and provide an address. Failure to comply could result in a $5,000 fine or jail time.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem defended the policy in a Fox News interview, stating that those who self-register can avoid criminal charges and fines while receiving assistance in returning to their home countries. The initiative is based on the 1940 Alien Registration Act, part of a broader immigration crackdown that critics say criminalizes civil offenses.

The policy follows increased enforcement efforts, including a record ICE operation in Colony Ridge, Texas, where 118 arrests were made, including individuals with charges ranging from homicide to child sexual abuse. Meanwhile, border apprehensions have dropped significantly, with only 200 recorded this past Saturday, the lowest in over 15 years.

ICE has signaled that more enforcement actions are expected in the coming weeks.
