Tesla has issued a recall for 46,096 Cybertrucks after discovering that a stainless-steel exterior panel, known as the “cant rail,” may detach and pose a road hazard. The vehicles affected were manufactured between November 13, 2023, and February 27, 2025.
According to filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the panel can delaminate and potentially increase the risk of injury or crashes. Tesla began investigating the issue in January and initiated the recall on March 11. The company has received 151 warranty claims but reports no known injuries or collisions. Owners will be notified by mail starting May 19, and the defective part will be replaced at no cost.
This is Tesla’s third recall this year, following a major one related to its autopilot system. The company’s stock has dropped over 50% since December amid ongoing political controversy involving CEO Elon Musk’s role in the Trump administration.
Recent attacks on Tesla properties prompted Attorney General Pam Bondi to announce arrests and label such incidents as “domestic terrorism.”
