A Tesla Cybertruck caught fire and was engulfed in flames outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Wednesday morning. A video shared on X captured the scene, with the filmer stating the vehicle “blew up.” Authorities have not confirmed the cause of the fire or any injuries.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police reported that they are investigating the incident and confirmed the fire has been extinguished. Local news outlet KSNV News 3 Las Vegas stated that a vehicle fire was reported at 8:41 AM local time, prompting a response from police and firefighters.
The incident coincides with reports of Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s closer ties to President-elect Donald Trump. Musk reportedly spent New Year’s Eve at Mar-a-Lago, attended a dinner with Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and Trump, and has been staying at a cottage on Trump’s Florida property since Election Day, according to The New York Times.
