The Supreme Court declined former Trump adviser Peter Navarro’s request to delay serving a four-month prison sentence for ignoring a congressional subpoena. Chief Justice John Roberts dismissed the appeal, referencing Navarro’s failure to meet Bail Reform Act conditions for bail during appeal. Navarro had argued executive privilege in refusing the House Jan. 6 committee’s subpoena, but was told he still needed to comply with Congress and provide non-privileged information.

His claims were previously rejected by a federal appeals court, highlighting the lack of substantial legal questions that could overturn his conviction. Navarro, who played a role in disputing the 2020 election results, was reminded by U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta at his sentencing that he was not the target of a political prosecution but had defied legal process.
