Secretary of State Marco Rubio endorsed President Trump’s proposal for the U.S. to take control of the Gaza Strip, stating on X, “Gaza MUST BE FREE from Hamas… the United States stands ready to lead and Make Gaza Beautiful Again.”

Trump floated the idea after meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, suggesting the U.S. oversee Gaza’s reconstruction and relocate its population. He called for international support, envisioning Gaza as the “Riviera of the Middle East.”

Democrats, including Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), condemned the idea as “ethnic cleansing,” with Green announcing plans to introduce impeachment articles. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) also criticized the proposal, arguing it contradicts “America First” policies.

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) supported the initiative, saying, “That area is so dangerous… he’s taking bold, decisive action.”
