Independent U.S. presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is unlikely to participate in the first 2024 presidential debate after missing CNN’s criteria deadline. CNN, hosting the June 27 debate, stipulated that candidates must appear on enough state ballots to potentially win the presidency and have at least 15% support in four separate national polls.

Kennedy has only met the 15% threshold in three accepted polls and qualified for the ballot in just six states, insufficient for a potential presidential win. CNN and Kennedy’s campaign have yet to comment.

Kennedy claimed the standards were unfair and aimed to exclude him, pushing for the Federal Election Commission to intervene. The FEC has not commented on the request.
