After spending months and millions of dollars to secure ballot access across all 50 states, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is now encountering difficulties in his efforts to withdraw from ballots in several key states. Last Friday, Kennedy announced the end of his independent presidential campaign, urging supporters to vote for him only in noncompetitive states while backing Donald Trump in battleground states.
However, an NPR review reveals that Kennedy may be unable to remove his name from ballots in crucial swing states such as Nevada and Wisconsin, where deadlines and state laws pose challenges. Kennedy’s campaign had previously secured ballot access in 47 states, but the process of withdrawing in certain states, such as Michigan and Nevada, appears too late or legally barred. In other states, like Pennsylvania and Texas, Kennedy has successfully removed his name, while situations in places like North Carolina and Wisconsin remain uncertain due to ongoing legal and administrative processes.
