Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. faced calls to resign Friday from his sister Kerry Kennedy and nephew Joe Kennedy III, following his questioning of vaccine safety during a Senate hearing.
Kerry Kennedy wrote on X, “Medical decisions belong in the hands of trained and licensed professionals, not incompetent and misguided leadership,” adding, “Enough is enough. Secretary Kennedy must resign.” Joe Kennedy III said his uncle is “a threat to the health and well-being of every American.”
The resignation demands came hours before President Trump publicly affirmed that vaccines “do work,” a break from Kennedy’s anti-vaccine stance.
Kennedy’s appearance before the Senate Finance Committee drew bipartisan criticism, especially over his firing of CDC Director Susan Monarez and skepticism about COVID vaccines. Critics say the chaos is undermining trust in public health institutions.
Kennedy has previously faced backlash from family members, including during his failed presidential run, when dozens of relatives endorsed President Biden.
