Voter support for Donald Trump‘s signature spending and tax cut bill has sharply declined, with just 37% of respondents in a new Rasmussen poll saying the Senate should approve it. The bill, dubbed the “big, beautiful bill” by Trump, has come under fire from across the political spectrum, most notably from former White House ally Elon Musk.

Musk recently called the bill a “disgusting abomination,” accusing Congress of stuffing it with pork and wasteful spending. His criticism marked a dramatic shift after serving as Trump’s efficiency czar during the administration’s early days. The fallout has cooled relations between Musk and Trump.

Despite the House having already passed the bill, opposition is growing. A majority of likely voters—58%—agree with Musk’s condemnation. Even among Republicans, 48% sided with Musk’s critique, compared to 38% who disagreed.

While House Speaker Mike Johnson and Trump remain optimistic about Senate passage by July 4, the polling reveals deep skepticism. Rasmussen found that 75% of likely voters are closely following the bill’s progress.
