Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is determined to remove Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), asserting that his days in leadership are numbered.

Greene filed a motion last month to oust Johnson, accusing him of crossing a line by supporting additional Ukraine aid. While two other GOP lawmakers have backed her motion, Democrats have generally opposed it. Greene contends that permanent funding for Ukraine aligns with Johnson’s stance, but she criticizes it as detrimental to peace and the Republican voters who gave the party its majority.

Johnson’s decision to pass the aid bill has bipartisan support, but it remains uncertain whether enough Democrats would back a motion to vacate his position. Former President Trump also supports Johnson, creating a challenging situation for Republicans. Regardless of the outcome, this Speaker fight could impact the GOP House majority and the 2024 election prospects.
