A New York Times/Siena College poll indicates that 21% of voters planning to support former President Trump think he has committed a serious federal crime, while 68% do not, and 12% are undecided or did not respond.
Trump faces two federal cases by special counsel Jack Smith, including charges related to 2020 election interference and mishandling classified documents, pleading not guilty in both.
Overall, 53% of 980 registered voters surveyed from Feb. 25-28, with a 3.5 percentage point margin of error, believe Trump has committed a serious crime. Despite this, Trump leads President Biden by five points in a potential rematch.
