A new Puck News/Echelon Insights survey shows that 41% of likely Democratic voters prefer Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s 2028 presidential nominee, despite her loss to President-elect Donald Trump in the 2024 election. California Gov. Gavin Newsom placed second at 8%, followed by Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro at 7%.
Other candidates included Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, each at 6%, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) at 4%. Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer received 3%, while Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, and Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) each garnered 2%. Around 16% of respondents were undecided.
Among Republicans, Vice President-elect J.D. Vance led with 37% support for the 2028 GOP primary. Former candidates Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy each received 9%, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis followed with 8%.
The poll, conducted Nov. 14–18 with 1,010 likely voters, has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
