A recent Axios/Ipsos American Health Index poll indicates that a majority of Americans believe the nation’s health has deteriorated under President Donald Trump and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Of the 1,125 adults surveyed between October 10–13, 41% reported that the policies implemented have made America less healthy, while 19% indicated they have made it healthier.
Responses varied by party affiliation: 42% of Republicans viewed the health policies as an improvement, whereas only 3% of Democrats and 17% of Independents agreed. Among Democrats, 75% expressed the belief that these policies contributed to a decline in the nation’s health.
The survey also revealed increasing skepticism toward the CDC, FDA, and NIH, as well as growing doubt regarding childhood vaccination requirements. Approximately one in five Americans stated they believe Trump’s recent assertion linking Tylenol use during pregnancy to autism, despite a lack of scientific evidence supporting this claim.
Pollsters noted that these findings reflect a widening partisan divide concerning trust in government health guidance.
