Washington, D.C. — Public confidence in the federal government’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein document release remains extremely low, according to new polling that shows widespread skepticism toward the Justice Department’s transparency.

A CNN/SSRS survey found that just 6% of Americans say they are satisfied with the amount of Epstein-related material released so far. The dissatisfaction cuts across party lines, with only 12% of Republicans and 3% each of Democrats and independents expressing approval. Roughly two-thirds of respondents said they believe the Justice Department is intentionally withholding information that should be made public, compared with just 16% who said the government is doing its best to release all available records.

The poll follows a December 19 congressional deadline for the release of all unclassified Epstein documents. Justice Department officials have alleged that fewer than 1% of the total files have been disclosed to date, and have told a federal court that approximately 80 additional attorneys have been assigned to assist prosecutors in the Southern District of New York with the review process.

President Donald Trump, who has been mentioned in some of the released material, has alleged without evidence that the ongoing disclosures are part of a “Democrat-inspired hoax,” urging the department to shift its focus elsewhere. Those statements, like other administration claims, have not been independently verified.

The CNN/SSRS poll was conducted online from Jan. 9–12 among 1,209 adults and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points. Poll results show little change in overall satisfaction since mid-2025, despite continued public pressure for fuller disclosure.
