Three senior aides to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth — Dan Caldwell, Colin Carroll, and Darin Selnick — issued a joint statement Saturday condemning what they described as unfounded allegations after being ousted from the Pentagon amid a leak investigation.

The trio, initially placed on leave, said they were “incredibly disappointed” by their abrupt exits and claimed they have not been informed of specific allegations. “Unnamed Pentagon officials have slandered our character with baseless attacks,” the statement said.

Their removal comes during a growing probe into national security leaks, which reportedly began after Defense officials learned Elon Musk would receive a classified China briefing. Former Pentagon spokesman John Ullyot also resigned this week; officials said he was asked to step down.

The Trump administration’s Pentagon has seen a wave of firings, including Gen. CQ Brown, Adm. Lisa Franchetti, and NSA director Gen. Tim Haugh. The administration also suspended or removed DEI-related content, drawing backlash.
