SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) sharply criticized President Donald Trump during an interview with CNN’s Elex Michaelson, calling him “the worst thing on the face of the Earth.” The full interview is set to air on CNN’s “The Story Is with Elex Michaelson.”
Pelosi accused Trump of disregarding the Constitution, manipulating the Supreme Court, and undermining democratic institutions, saying he has “turned the Supreme Court into a rogue court” and “abolished the House of Representatives” through his influence over Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA). She also claimed he has “chilled the press” while in office.
The comments come as speculation grows over whether Pelosi, 85, will seek reelection in 2026. NBC News reported that many California Democrats believe she may retire, but her office said she remains focused on California’s redistricting ballot measure, Proposition 50. The initiative would shift redistricting authority from an independent commission to the Legislature, backed by Pelosi, Gov. Gavin Newsom, and former President Barack Obama.
Pelosi said she would easily win if she chose to run again, adding, “It isn’t arrogant, it’s competent. I know my district.”
