Beginning in the 2025–26 school year, Oklahoma high school students will be required to study President Trump‘s debunked claims about 2020 election fraud, under a new social studies curriculum introduced by State Superintendent Ryan Walters (R). The material will not be taught as a conspiracy theory but as a formal part of Oklahoma’s academic standards.

The curriculum directs students to examine alleged “discrepancies” in the election, claims widely discredited by courts and election officials. Critics, including the Oklahoma Council for Social Studies, argue the standards are historically inaccurate and were approved through a deceptive process lacking transparency.

Walters defended the change as a move to promote critical thinking and oppose “left-wing propaganda.” At the same time, the curriculum removes lessons on President Biden’s accomplishments, expands biblical instruction in early grades, and omits references to the separation of church and state.

Moms for Liberty praised the standards, calling them “anti-woke” and “truth-filled,” while educators and historians warn of indoctrination and misuse of public education for political ends.
