Former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in a campaign video released Friday. In the one-minute video titled “Endorsement,” the Obamas expressed their pride and support for Harris.
“We called to say Michelle and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office,” Obama said.
Harris responded, “Oh my goodness, Michelle, Barack, this means so much to me.”
Harris announced her candidacy after President Biden dropped out and endorsed her. The Obamas’ endorsement follows support from other top Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and Hakeem Jeffries.
Michelle Obama added, “I can’t have this phone call without saying to my girl Kamala: I am proud of you. This is going to be historic.”
Harris has secured enough delegates to win the Democratic nomination and has raised $126 million as of Tuesday. The campaign is launching a Weekend of Action to mark 100 days until Election Day, involving over 170,000 volunteers and 2,300 events across battleground states.
