New York has agreed to pay nearly $500,000 to Brittany Commisso, a former aide who accused then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo of sexual harassment. Commisso alleged Cuomo groped her breast, grabbed her behind, kissed her on the lips, and made other unwanted advances while she worked in the governor’s office.

Commisso’s lawyers hailed the settlement as “a complete vindication,” citing findings from state and federal investigations. Cuomo, now a candidate for New York City mayor, continues to deny all allegations. His legal team called the settlement a “capitulation” meant to avoid revealing what they described as exculpatory evidence.

A 2024 U.S. Department of Justice report concluded Cuomo created a “sexually hostile work environment” for 13 women. A 2021 investigation by New York Attorney General Letitia James similarly found Cuomo harassed 11 women and retaliated against accusers.

Commisso follows Charlotte Bennett, another Cuomo accuser, who settled earlier this year for $450,000, most of which went to legal fees. Cuomo’s lawyers insist Commisso withheld key text messages and sought to avoid testifying under oath.
