A new House bill, the “Antisemitism Community Service Act,” was introduced on Wednesday. The bill, proposed by Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) and Rep. Randy Weber (R-Texas), requires anti-Israel protesters convicted of illegal activities on college campuses to serve a minimum of six months of community service in the Gaza Strip.

The bill targets individuals found guilty of “unlawful activity” on college campuses since October 7, 2023. Despite its introduction, it is unlikely to pass the Democrat-controlled Senate.

A separate bill introduced by Rep. Ogles aims to crack down on non-citizen agitators involved in campus protests. This legislation would require the State Department to revoke the visas of anyone arrested during encampment demonstrations, specifically targeting student visas and work-study exchange visas.

Several universities have recently taken action to clear anti-Israel encampments and demonstrations on their campuses. However, southern universities like the University of Mississippi, Louisiana State University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill have seen strong counter-protests against anti-Israel demonstrators.
