President Donald Trump praised Elon Musk’s directive requiring federal employees to list five accomplishments from the past week or face termination, calling it “genius.” Musk announced that non-responders would be given another chance but would be fired if they failed to reply again.

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) clarified that responses were voluntary and non-compliance would not be considered resignation. Several agencies, including the FBI and Department of Homeland Security, instructed employees not to respond, emphasizing that leadership would handle any required reporting.

Trump defended Musk’s approach, stating, “We’re trying to find out if people are working… If people don’t respond, it’s very possible that there is no such person or they’re not working.” The directive has sparked controversy, with some agencies resisting its implementation.
