WASHINGTON, D.C. — Representative Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) said Sunday that “100 or more” House Republicans could vote to release documents tied to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, signaling growing bipartisan support for transparency. Appearing on ABC’s This Week with Jonathan Karl, Massie said he expects a “deluge of Republicans” to join Democrats when the measure comes up for a vote this week.
Massie and Representative Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) successfully filed a discharge petition forcing a House vote on legislation that would compel the Trump administration to release all remaining Epstein-related records. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) confirmed the vote will occur in the coming days.
“I would remind my Republican colleagues who are deciding how to vote — Donald Trump can protect you in red districts right now by giving you an endorsement,” Massie said. “But in 2030, he’s not going to be the president, and you will have voted to protect pedophiles if you don’t vote to release these files.”
Massie, a frequent critic of Trump’s policies, has clashed with the president in recent months, including over tax legislation and foreign policy. Trump has since endorsed a challenger against him in 2026 and backed a super PAC aimed at unseating him.
Massie said he remains confident the measure will pass overwhelmingly and urged Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) to advance it quickly. “The pressure is going to be there if we get a big vote in the House,” he said.
