A 19-year-old man from Menasha, Wisconsin, is accused of setting fire to a strip mall housing Republican Rep. Glenn Grothman’s office, citing frustration over a federal TikTok ban. Grothman had supported legislation requiring TikTok’s Chinese parent company to divest its U.S. operations.
The fire in Fond du Lac was reported at 1 a.m. and caused minor damage outside the building. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, and no injuries occurred. Police arrested the suspect, who was spotted near the scene watching the fire, and he faces arson charges.
Grothman confirmed awareness of the incident but did not comment further. TikTok briefly restricted U.S. access Sunday before being restored, though its future remains uncertain.
