Rep. Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.) has called for the immediate removal of Reps. Chip Roy (R-Texas) and Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) from the Rules Committee. This follows their support for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-Ga.) failed attempt to oust Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Ga.).

Lawler argues that those who undermine the majority should face consequences, including removal from committee assignments. Despite former Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s ousting, Roy and Massie have retained their positions on the Rules Committee, which has significant influence over legislation. Lawler hopes this situation will strengthen the resolve to enforce consequences for actions that undermine Congress.
